Web-based Methodology

  • The material is divided into eight (8) blocks with each block consisting of a variable number of units (topics)
  • At the level of each unit there are four components:
    • Content
      • here's where the information is located
      • This is "on-line" text--use it as the reference for your guided learning.
    • Guided Practice
      • these are representative practice questions, usually with explanations, that will help you prepare for examinations
      • For muliple choice questions:
        • Click on an answer (A,B,C,D etc)
        • A WRONG answer is indicated by "X"
        • A CORRECT answer is indicated by ":-)"-sideways "smiley face
        • Example test
        • "Matching" and "fill-in-the-blank" type questions also are used in Guided Practice, but on your exams only multiple choice questions are used.
    • Cases
      • In many units, clinical cases are available which illustrate important pharmacological priniciples
        • In clinical cases, the case material appears at the right of the screen and the questions on the left.:
          • Click on an answer (A,B,C,D etc)
          • A WRONG answer is indicated by "X"
          • A CORRECT answer is indicated by ":-)"-sideways "smiley face"
          • Example Case
    • Practice Exams
      • these exams allow you to practice taking tests which will be similar in content and scope to the multiple choice component of your real exams. If you do well on practice exams and guided practice questions, you should do well on the multiple choice part of your actual exam.
      • some practice exams are like "Guided Practice" questions, i.e.
        • Click on an answer (A,B,C,D etc)
        • A WRONG answer is indicated by "X"
        • A CORRECT answer is indicated by ":-)"-sideways "smiley face"---you get feedback right away
        • other practice exams require that you click on an answer, answer all the questions, then press "Grade exam" to get your score
