Induction of acute asthma episodes: Pharmacological Factors
  •  Beta-adrenergic Antagonists:
    • common obstructing agent in asthmatics and other patients with enhanced airway reactivity
    •  should be avoided
    •  at higher doses, even beta1 selective agents may worsen asthma
  •  Worsening of asthma may occur following use of:
    • sulfide-containing topical ophthalmic solutions
    • intravenous glucocorticoids
    • some inhalational bronchodilators solutions
