Glycopylorate, 50 micrograms, IV, was
titrated without change in heart rate.
The patient was preoxygenated for one
minute before proceeding with a rapid induction
sequence using ketamine, 1 mg/kg and
succinylcholine, 1mg/kg.
The trachea in intubated with ease using
a 4.0 mm endotrachial tube.
Thiopental and propofol are common
induction agents. Ethomidate would be another possibility.
However, they were not used. Suggest possible reasons why.
